Eastlake Exploration and Production Limited (Eastlake) has with its partners, Dubri Oil Company Limited (DOCL) received the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) approval of Environmental and Social Baseline Study (ESBS) report for the Ovia Field in OML 96. After an extensive review, NUPRC had noted that the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the relevant environmental components which was confirmed by the in-situ and laboratory measurements and analysis are within baseline concentrations and the recorded values were also consistent across sampling and control stations.
With this approval, Eastlake and Dubri will proceed to secure the NUPRC drilling approvals for Ovia 2 and Ovia 3 wells. It is worthy of note that Eastlake is working with Federal Ministry of Environment and NUPRC for the greater Environmental and Social Impact Assessment conclusion for the full development of the Ovia Field.
